The Seabrook Elementary Library Program is designed to nurture students’ love of literature and their enthusiasm for investigating the classroom curriculum or any given subject that interests them. The program builds skills over the years, giving students the ability to independently use and enjoy library resources.
During weekly library visits, students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 4 participate in lessons ranging from literature appreciation to research skills. At each step of the library program, students are given instruction and support as they proceed to become independent users of the library resources. The knowledge and skills gained through the program help students to form a strong foundation of literacy and lifelong learning and prepares them to be productive and engaged 21st century learners.
The library program is based on the school curriculum -social studies, math, science and the writing and reading workshops, as well as library and technology goals. The library program is an integral part of the SES educational program.
